Doctors on Sunday released 31 people who were injured during an engagement ceremony Saturday in the eastern province of Bayburt when a room collapsed, Anatolia news agency reported.
The room collapsed due to excessive dancing and jumping, Bayburt Gov. Kerem Al said. In total 36 people, all women and children, were injured when they fell into the animal shed below the room. Tuğba Mıcık, 21, the sister of the groom, was badly injured as boiling water from a heater poured onto her during the collapse. She was hospitalized in Erzurum.
Four other injured people – a pregnant 31-year-old relative of the groom who was burned by the water as well, a 49-year-old woman with cracks to her backbone, a 50-year-old woman with a broken nose and a 68-year-old woman with a cracked skull – were still in hospital. All four were in stable condition.
