A government building in the Turkmen capital of Ashgabat constructed by Turkey’s Polimeks İnşaat was opened with a ceremony Friday.
The Emergencies Directorate building of the Ministry of Defense was constructed by Polimeks at a cost of $200 million for the energy-rich Central Asian country.
The building includes high-tech communication systems to maintain national coordination and also has a Disaster Coordination Center. The building was constructed in just one year.
Istanbul-based Polimeks, a rising construction star in Turkmenistan, has so far committed to a total of 99 projects in the country, with 78 of them already completed. The total cost of these projects has reached $5 billion, according to company executives. The company recently won the tender to build an “Olympic Village.” The first phase of this project, on an area of 150 hectares, will cost $2 billion.
Rapidly-growing Turkmenistan has become the main market for Turkish builders in Central Asia. Before the end of 2009, Turkish construction companies undertook 650 projects in the country at a total cost of $18.2 billion.
