Turkish entrepreneur to meet Turkey’s total steel pipe demand

A leading firm in Turkey’s steel pipe production sector, Tosçelik is set to increase its annual steel pipe production to 2 million tons with an additional investment of $500 million in its facilities in Osmaniye province, according to a press release from the company.

Tosyalı Holding’s, the parent company of Tosçelik, total production increased 85 percent in 2010 and reached 2.5 million tons, the holding’s turnover, similarly, increased 133 percent, to $1.6 billion, while it boosted its exports to $400 million, by 40 percent.
The flat steel production facility in Osmaniye province starting its operations a year ago with a $1 billion investment and will be turned into a fully integrated facility with the additional $500 million investment, according to the press release.
The facility is capable of meeting Turkey’s total national steel pipe demand, the press release said.
Already employing 3,000 people in its 13 facilities in Osmaniye, İskenderun, İzmir and Istanbul provinces, Tosyalı Holding will create jobs for another 1,000 with the new investment.
Tosyalı Holding Chairman Fuat Tosyalı recently held a press meeting to evaluate the holding’s 2010 data and shared with the members of the press the company’s five-year investment plans and targets.
Tosyalı said the company targeted to reach 1 million tons of production capacity in the first year of its Osmaniye facility, 1.5 million tons in the second tear and 2 million tons in the third year. “By actualizing 1.25 million tons of production last year we surpassed our targets at 25 percent. Therefore we revised our 2011 targets and determined it as 1.65 million tons.”
