National Geographic China has reserved its cover and 30 pages for Turkey in its special New Year’s issue.
National Geographic China, part of the prestigious National Geographic reference magazine family, for the first time spared 30 pages for the introduction of a country. Ma Weidu, founder of China's first private museum and a famous collector, promoted Turkey in the magazine.
Turkish Culture & Tourism Ministry Undersecretary İlknur Yiğit, with the ministry’s Beijing promotion office, said after they learned that many Chinese people knew about China porcelain in Turkey and admired it very much, the editors of Chinese National Geographic were offered the chance to promote Turkey.
Yiğit said that a delegation was hosted in Turkey at the special invitation of Turkish Culture Minister Ertuğrul Günay, and they were given special access and photography rights in museums.
Weidu said in his article that he was impressed with the multiculturalism in Turkey; he said Turkey was a perfect country.
Weidu is a famous collector who was previously invited to the British Museum by the British government to do research.
