Kidnapped Turk engineer in Afghanistan rescued

Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu said Sunday the kidnapped Turkish engineer in Afghanistan was rescued and had reached the Turkish Embassy in Kabul.
Coşkun Çaloğlu was missing for one year after being abducted in the Nemrus region of Afghanistan. Turkey's ambassador to Kabul, Basat Öztürk, informed Davutoğlu about the developments. The two were in the eastern Anatolian province of Erzurum to attend the conference of Turkey's ambassadors from all over the world.
As soon as the ambassador informed him, Davutoğlu shared the news with Turkish journalists accompanying him. "I have good news for you. The Turkish engineer who was kidnapped has been rescued," said Davutoğlu.
Diplomatic sources told the Hürriyet Daily News & Economic Review that the rescue came after strict follow up, denying any kind of ransom negotiations. The engineer was staying at the Turkish Embassy's guesthouse in Kabul and will return to Turkey as soon as procedures are completed.
