Frederic’s provides elegance in Istanbul's hippest new area

Frederic’s provides elegance in Istanbul's hippest new area

For those seeking ambiance, taste, chic dining and elegance, look no further than Akaretler’s Frederic’s Restaurant at W Istanbul, an upscale lobster joint at the end of one of the favorite haunts for fashionistas in the city.
For those who love sea food, but not just any sea food, Frederic’s Restaurant is the perfect choice. Formerly at the Ritz Carlton Istanbul, the restaurant moved to W Hotel Istanbul a few years ago.
“Where classic masterpieces created with epicurean excellence are presented in a warm, contemporary setting surrounded by modern art pieces, the legend of Frederic's lives on,” the restaurant said on its website.
Anchored by a spectacular lobster aquarium, where you can select the shellfish for your main course, the intimate and warm dining room is filled with sunshine during the day and glows by the lights of Akaretler at night. Food is an art here.
Created from the most well-known, luxuriously sourced ingredients, Frederic’s can offer delectable dishes prepared by chef Tolga Atalay such as turbot; truffles; saffron; oysters; asparagus; caviar; dry, aged meat; veal; cheeses; refined French sauces; savory gourmet pizzas; pastas; risottos; fine steaks; seafood and dazzling desserts.
From the cellar of more than 350 varieties of wine, there is a perfect complement to each dish, and to finish the evening, take in the fine companionship of the extensive cigar menu that Frederic’s serve.
The restaurant overlooks Akaretler, one of the most favorite places for fashionistas with luxury-brand shops such as Miu Miu, Prada and Marc by Marc Jacobs, as well as night clubs, hotels, bistros and many art galleries. The location is at the end of the upscale Akaretler Row Houses, an elegant and charming district.
In Istanbul, which offers a number of different lifestyles, the most glamorous, chic and posh ones are to be found in Nişantaşı and Akaretler – although some would argue the latter is slowly supplanting the former with its fashionable clothing stores, gourmet food and places for culture vultures.
A prestige location in Istanbul, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his mother, Zübeyde Hanım, lived there for a while.
Akaretler is on the way from Nişantaşı to Beşiktaş and is the location of the Housez Suits, the famous night club/restaurant Der Die Das and many other fine nightclubs. The W Hotel Istanbul is at the bottom of the hill, close to Beşiktaş.
Frederic’s is open between 12 and 4 p.m. for lunch and 6 and 11 p.m. for dinner.
For those who would like to have a fine dinner there, smart casual dress code is recommended.
Akaretler row houses
The Akaretler Row Houses, known as Sıraevler in Turkish, were built for the upper class in Dolmabahçe in the 19th century and became a luxury shopping location in 2008 as huge luxury brands such as Sergio Rossi, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Etro opened shops one after another.
There is also the Spice Market, the restaurant owned by famous Michelin chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, as well as the W Hotel. Today, some shops have closed and have been replaced by a number of art galleries.
The street has always protected its prestigious face and is coming back to life again with an artsy style as it become another Chelsea or Meatpacking district of Istanbul.
