Book to unlock the secrets of Istanbul

Book to unlock the secrets of Istanbul

Master short-story writer Adnan Özyalçıner and poet-writer Şennur Sezer are planning to soon release their new book, "Istanbul Monuments and their Stories," which presents the city like a huge open-air museum.
The elaborate and subtle expressions of the two authors renew the stories and myths on the monuments of Istanbul and present the city in a different light.
Each of the monuments presented in the book relate to different periods and cultures and have become the subject of different legends over time. The stories begin in the city’s walled area before developing and changing along with the rest of Istanbul.
The population is increasing in parallel with the city's ever-growing structure and this situation makes the people of Istanbul unaware of the identity of the many religious, civil buildings and the monuments that have come to symbolize the city.
The number of intellectuals who are aware of how these buildings have changed over time is limited. “Istanbul Monuments and their Stories” was written to introduce the buildings and monuments that have an important place in the cultural texture of Istanbul.
The book hopes to relate the legends of these monuments in written form, depict the cultural aura that pervades Istanbul and convey the myths to future generations.
The photographs of Ferda Çağlayan and Özcan Yaman will also compliment the stories provided by Özyalçıner and Sezer.
