Akbank Sanat will host Baroque Music Days, featuring a number of prominent groups and figures from the baroque world, throughout January.
Eclipse, Lynda Sayce, Jorge Jimenez and others will all be on stage during the three-week-long festival.
The event will not only provide the chance to discover new voices but also examine the changes in the world of baroque music.
On Jan. 13, Akbank Sanat on İstiklal Avenue will host English baroque music group Eclipse, who will draw listeners into 17th- and 18th-century England. Joy Smith plays the Celtic Harp, and Layil Barr plays violin for the group.
The group will also perform traditional Celtic songs, Irish jigs and English folk songs.
Sayce, a prominent English lutenist, will be on stage Jan. 19 at Akbank Sanat to play a wide range of music from the 12th to 21st centuries. In the past, the lutenist has played with groups such as Ex Cathedra, King’s Consort and Musicians of the Globe.
It is also possible to play guitar with the master on Jan. 20 at 2 p.m. during a workshop.
Ensemble del Moianes and B'Rock Jorge Jimenez, who are currently playing with Eclipse, will also be coming to the concert in Istanbul.
Jimenez will also run his own workshop Jan. 28.
